Hop on SEPTA'S West Trenton R-3 train to the brim with Chocolate Genius Inc's Marc Anthony Thompson, Buffalo Springfield, Donovan Leitch and wedge in Weavers plus Grover Washington Jr. and your destination approaches the brilliant four-man, one woman sound played on Bucks County's Lazlo's second CD. The band plays primarily up tempo, strummy melodies of alt-country/singer-songwriter/indie proportions with the random lap steel, dobro, bass or even a guest Hammond keeping it in-the-weeds. Lead vox, Jon Thomson and company's catchy, propulsive X-like, "Jack" kiskcs ass and never looks back. "Golden Age" conjures up mid-70's Kinks. Singer Shannon Sanderson's "Pink and Blue" offers a Mersey Beat barnburner. Want more? Dig three easy, breezy complimentary mellow demos at LazloMusic.com.

Wasiho, is afkomstig uit New Jersey. (Wiebren Rijkeboer) http://www.altcountry.nl/recensiessep05.html#lazlo
Bucks County Time Off & Philly Metro
…Old Steel Company, the title of the latest cd from Lazlo, makes it sound as if the Bucks County/ Central Jersey quartet group is a remnant of the 1960s folk scene. But while the band’s laid-back sound gives nods to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the Byrds, Lazlo is equally influenced by 1990’s alt-country bands like Son Volt and Wilco… …if only“easy listening” meant bands like Lazlo…Lazlo just released a strong independent cd, “Old Steel Company,” and will play World Café Live Saturday night… Matt Smith June 10th 2005

…With Amazingly rich four-part harmonies and incredible instrumentation, Lazlo’s music is a unique blending of alternative-country, folk, rock and bluegrass. Russel Shockley July 13/14 2005
The Intelligencer
…Add those studies to the band’s seamless harmonizing, an affinity for older music--although Wilco, Radiohead and Norah Jones are listed among influences--and Thompson’s penchant for lush and literate lyrics, and it’s a formula that makes for music that lingers well beyond a superficial listen… Naila Francis June 9th 2005
The Trend
…How would you describe music that doesn’t fit into any genre? It’s not quite indie rock, but close; not exactly folk, but similar in some ways. Maybe try adding some country, a little rock, three harmony vocals, a saxophone and steel guitar, and you might have some idea what the local band Lazlo is all about…Attending a live performance by Lazlo is a different and unpredictable experience. Each show has its own individuality, depending on the mood of the band and their interaction with the audience. There is never a designated play list… Melissa Yerkov May 25th 2005
US 1 newspaper
…offering up a blend of immensely listenable alternative-country tunes, the four members of Lazlo could easily be offspring of Neil Young and Emmy Lou Harris, Wilco and Lucinda Williams, or Shawn Colvin and Michael Stipe… Deb Cooperman February 3rd 2005
Time Off
…Lazlo’s contagious grooves, rich harmonies and subtle songwriting are even better reasons. Their sound has been described as “ethereal country” and “new folk rock,” but the music defies a single category… Susan Van Dongen October 1st 2003
